Sound Walk

a walk where the participant (or participants) concentrate on listening [paraphrase of Schafer 212–213]. The main goal of the activity is to facilitate Heightened listeningA focused and attentive approach to sounds in which the listener focuses upon the details of sounds, perhaps free from the source bonded associations.More infoHeightened listening. When more than one person is involved, silence is expected throughout (no chatting during the walk). And there is usually a discussion about the sounds, and the soundwalk, at the end.

Soundwalks can be recorded and used as a source of sounds, or used as an inspiration for works.
